Food Explanation

Birthdays

My family in America loves to celebrate each other's birthday. We gather together at my Grandparents house to celebrate. We always have food and it’s the main thing we have when we celebrate. The food is usually made by the people that are throwing the party.

Not long after our big breakfast of pancakes, eggs, toast, breakfast sausages and orange juice, my mother and her 3 sisters begin making the side dishes for our barbeque. They start early because most of the side dishes need to be chilled or they take a long process to make. My mother prepares the ingredients to make egg rolls. One of my aunts shreds the crab meat for the crab salad. Another one of my aunts starts marinating the pork ribs and chicken. My other aunt peels, washes and boils the potatoes so they are ready to be made into a potato salad.

When they’re all finished with the food they made, it was time for lunch, because my mother and aunties don’t want us to keep opening and closing the refrigerator and ruin the chilling of the food, they took us out to McDonalds for lunch. Soon we are finished with our happy meal and played at the small playground. We go home in time for the meat to be grilled.

Our grandpa and uncle begin grilling the meat. Just like my mother and aunties, they both have jobs to do, so that they don’t get in the way of each other. My uncle applies the meat onto the grill and removes them when they’re done and my grandpa flips the meat, so that it is evenly cooked. They swap jobs for each kind of meat. Chicken, ribs, steak and pork..

Celebrating birthdays is something my family in America loves to do. Food is the main thing we use to celebrate. I love the way my family celebrates birthdays because they’re fun and everyone gets involved.
